First Theme: Procrastination
procrastinator: messy room, loose gesture, bed, lie, sofa, sleep, no impetus, indolent, muscleless, drowsy.
Second Theme: Shadow self
The Stanford prison experiment (SPE) was an attempt to investigate the psychological effects of perceived power, focusing on the struggle between prisoners and prison officers. It was conducted at Stanford University between August 14–20, 1971, by a research group led by psychology professor Philip Zimbardo using college students.[1] It was funded by the U.S. Office of Naval Research[2] as an investigation into the causes of difficulties between guards and prisoners in the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. The experiment is a topic covered in most introductory (social) psychology textbooks.
The movie explores the influence of environment triggers the dark side of human nature, as it gives people an appropriate reason to bully and be violent. The dark side and evilness are always in our heart, only lack of an appropriate environment to commit it.

A film explores the shadow self and perfection, to accept our own shadow self, release the repressed alter ego.
Nina (Natalie Portman) is a ballerina whose passion for the dance rules every facet of her life. When the company's artistic director decides to replace his prima ballerina for their opening production of "Swan Lake," Nina is his first choice. She has competition in newcomer Lily (Mila Kunis) however. While Nina is perfect for the role of the White Swan, Lily personifies the Black Swan. As rivalry between the two dancers transforms into a twisted friendship, Nina's dark side begins to emerge.
thoroughly remould oneself, destruction and rebirth
The film talks about growth, to overcome all hardships and dangers and reinvent themselves.
Perfect Blue (パーフェクトブルー Pāfekuto Burū) is a 1997 Japanese animated psychological thriller film directed by Satoshi Kon and written by Sadayuki Murai. It is based on the novel Perfect Blue: Complete Metamorphosis (パーフェクト・ブルー 完全変態 Pāfekuto Burū: Kanzen Hentai) by Yoshikazu Takeuchi.
The film follows Mima Kirigoe, the member of a Japanese idol group who retires from music to pursue an acting career. As she becomes a victim of stalking, she starts to lose her perception of reality and fiction. Like much of Kon's later work, such as Paprika, the film deals with the blurring of the lines between fantasy and reality in contemporary Japan
Mirror image suggests the "ideal self" or an imagery self
Mima's room represents her inner heart, messy room=chaos in the heart
keywords: layers, various patterns and shape,
there are several layers hidden under the fake surface which just like the shadow self
Inspiration from underwater world shadow and ripples
the plastic did not work very well as the shape would slight deformed and changed back when it cools down
It is too heavy when it contains water, I will rethink the design because the texture of the plastic piece already presents the element of water. I might consider multiple layers without water to suggest the various sides of shadow self
The shadow really works very well, so dramatic just what I expected, I am very satisfied with my final outcome.

2. avoidant type
3. determine type
human, half is the angel, half is the demon
expressions: fury; suddenly sorrowful suddenly joyful; unnormal behaviour.
Sometimes no signs of it
Everyone has the dark side of the personality, it is normal, an animal instinct in our mind, relative to the persona(the side we would like to show to others)
We cannot wipe out shadow self, but we can further control it. Understand it, knowing the reaction we are going to respond so we could change it. It is beneficial for us to face our shadow self, we should fuse it into our personality, or we are just half person. We need it for knowing our essence.

shifting the light to observe the shadow, the farther of the light source, the bigger of the shadow

more organic form here, the shadow appears in motion

mirror-hidden the alter ego
The pieces of minor fragments stabbed herself, destroyed her, but also helped her
The fish tank is an important clue to distinguish reality and dream.
The dead fish triggered her deeper inner conflict.
Keywords: mirror, reflective
suggest the idea of imaginary self, hidden the alter ego
keywords: nape, curvy structure
the nape defines the bottom hairline of the back, where the skull meets the neck.
I like the position the artist sets the jewellery piece, where people usually do not notice
I think that position responds to my concept idea, as it is hidden under the surface
I might do a few design sketchings in this position
I like the structure of this model best, as it is simple but effective
But the position where I set it on the neck is not very successful as it is not stable to hold the two pieces of wooden sticks
I would reconsider the position, it might be on the shoulder
Material experiment with shadow
it does not work well to cast the shadow, as it is flat that the water converges in one place, so that shadow created is less interesting and dramatic
the acetate works quite well, as it is transparent and thin, the shadow created is very clear and dramatic. I used the heat gun to create texture on it.
this plastic is thicker than the acetate piece, however, it could be changed the shape and created texture easily by the heat gun and would not change back. It is stronger than the acetate but also do good work of casting the shadow
Testing and Making final outcome
The air dry clay is much stronger than plastic, the making of the shoulder parts is successful.
I covered it by polyfilla to give it a nice finish as the surface is bumpy
Negative procrastination: cannot finish the task on time.
Positive procrastination: give me more time, I can do better! (perfectionist)
shadow self is primitive, incongruous. Intense emotion could be the trigger of shadow self and also alcohol, drug those could lower the effect of self- control.
Alter ego=shadow self
Freud used the analogy of an iceberg to describe the three levels of the mind. unconscious mind.
On the surface is consciousness, which consists of those thoughts that are the focus of our attention now, and this is seen as the tip of the iceberg. The preconscious consists of all which can be retrieved from memory.
The third and most significant region is unconscious. Here lie the processes that are the real cause of the most behaviour. Like an iceberg, the most important part of the mind is the part you cannot see.

The clothing in rape scene is similar with the CHAM costumes which means the previous pure idol image was completely defiled in Mima's heart.
She can say confidently "I am real Mima" now. After various tests, Mima found herself, live in the way she wants.
keywords: deep, tranquil, mysterious atmosphere, shadow, light,
I would capture the form and shape of these images to do a few design sketchings as it creates a mysterious atmosphere like the shadow self what we usually do not realise, but it is hidden under our surface deeply
Making Models
I like the texture created on the small pieces of acrylic board, however when I tried to the same thing on bigger piece of acrylic board, it took me really long time to come out some dot-like texture, it was really hard to produce the bubble texture on big acrylic board.
the material for the shoulder part did not work very well, as it kind of fragile, the texture is slightly messy
When I made the shoulder part, I used the bigger size acrylic tubes, the holes are quite big. Therefore I had to fill the holes with polyfilla to make it suitable for the new four solid tubes. I found it is quite hard to do it, the fill bits were broken a few times because of the height of the tubes and also I did not wait for long time for it to dry and made the next quickly.
